Check out my recipe for making Ninja Foodi Rice! It’s quick and easy!

One of the easiest things to make is Ninja Foodi Rice! It’s quick and super easy to make. And, it’s the perfect side dish for just about any meal. Although, I’ll admit that after more than 2 years of making Ninja Foodi recipes, this was my very first attempt at making just the rice! What? I know, that sounds a bit crazy considering we eat so much rice.

Why did it take me so long to make rice in my Ninja Foodi pressure cooker? Well, I’ve seen so many people saying that the rice either burned or did not cook all the way. So, up until now, I’ve been making it separately on the stove. Now, I can say that my go-to method for making rice will be in the Ninja Foodi! I was so impressed! It cooked quickly, and evenly, and did not come out mushy or undercooked. It was perfect, fluffy rice!!

Say goodbye to your rice cooker and hello to Ninja Foodi white rice! Actually, you can cook all sorts of rice in the Ninja Foodi with just a couple of cups of water. You can make long grain rice, jasmine rice, basmati rice, and whole-grain rice. The key is to cook the rice on high pressure and then natural release the pressure before opening the steam valve.

Tips for making Ninja Foodi Rice

Should I wash the rice before cooking?

Technically, yes. You should wash your rice to remove the extra starch that is on it. The extra starch tends to make the rice come out a bit gummy with the grains stuck together. However, I will say that I don’t wash my rice before cooking it. The result of stovetop rice is usually gummy and sticky. But, the rice that is cooked in the Ninja Foodi did not come out sticky at all and I did not wash it.

Can I freeze rice?

Absolutely! I would recommend waiting until the rice has cooled completely and then put it in an airtight container or a freezer bag. Do not overfill or stuff the rice in. To keep the rice nice and fluffy, it needs a little room to breathe, so to speak. Be sure to portion the rice out before packaging. If you pack 4 cups of rice together but will only be using 1 cup, it will be quite difficult to separate after it has been frozen. When you are ready to eat the frozen rice, simply put it in the microwave-safe container and add a tablespoon or two of water, cover, and heat for 1 minute. Based on the amount of rice that you are thawing, you may need to add an additional minute or two.

Can I double the recipe?

You sure can. Simply double the ingredients. There is no need to increase the pressure cooking time.

Can I make other types of rice in my Ninja Foodi?

Yes, you can. You can make all types of rice in the Ninja Foodi. However, each type of rice has a different cook time needed. For brown rice, pressure cook for 15 minutes and natural release pressure for 5 minutes. See the cooking chart below for times and ratios for each rice type.

Can I use water instead of broth to cook rice in my Ninja Foodi?

Yes, you can. However, the flavor that the broth adds to the rice is a nice addition. You can substitute any type of broth or thin liquid that you would like. Do not use thick liquid, like gravy, as it will not absorb into the grains of rice as easily and may leave the rice undercooked or burnt to the bottom of the pot.

How do you cook rice in Ninja Foodi?

It’s simple. Add the ingredients to the inner pot, close the lid and make sure the valve is closed, pressure cook on high and when the timer beeps, do a natural pressure release. You’ll need to adjust the water-to-rice ratio based on the type of rice that you make. But the time will need to be adjusted based on the rice that you are cooking. See the cooking chart below for times and ratios for each rice type.

Ingredients for making Ninja Foodi Rice:

The full ingredient list is found at the bottom of the post in the recipe card.

Rice- pick your favorite kind of rice. I usually use white rice but you can use brown, basmati, jasmine, wild, or arborio rice.

Broth or water- Using broth (in this recipe I used chicken broth) will add a lot more flavor than using water alone.

Butter- Salted

Salt-
I prefer freshly ground, but any type of salt will work. Adjust amount based on your personal preferences.

Pepper-
I prefer freshly ground black pepper. Adjust amount based on your personal preferences.

Directions for making Ninja Foodi Rice:

1. Add rice, broth, butter, salt, and pepper to Ninja Foodi insert pot, and stir.

2. Close pressure cooking lid and move valve to seal position.

3. Pressure cook on high and then natural release the pressure. Use table below to determine the cook and pressure release time.

4. Open the pressure cooking lid.

5. Stir using silicone or wooden fork or spatula. I don’t recommend that you use a spoon to stir as it tends to break up the rice a bit more and then the grains stick together and start to get mushy. If your rice is a little undercooked for your liking, simply put the pressure cooker lid back on and let it sit for a few extra minutes. Do not turn the Ninja Foodi on during this time. The rice will continue to cook from the steam in the pot.

6. Your rice is finished! Enjoy!

    Hi there,
That looks wonderfully easy, thanks for sharing. I just want to ask if it will work as well just using plain water, instead of stock?

Hi Mandy! Yes, you can use water. The broth adds some additional flavor but water will work too.
