Did you jump on the Dalgona coffee trend when it first debuted in North America? We did not since we had this whipped coffee drink many times in South Korea many years before. But when the popular Korean Netflix series Squid Game brought back the childhood sugar candy treat calleddalgona (달고나)or ppopgi (뽑기), we could not resist making this popular street vendor honeycomb treat! - Espresso Latte with Dalgona Chocolate Recipe (Easy)
Ingredients and Substitutes
- Espresso Coffee- make a cup of strong, bold coffee in your coffee machine or French Press. If you must, instant coffee powder works too!
- Chocolate- I love to put a piece of Nespresso Chocolate Squares directly into my coffee cup as the espresso brews. You can also use mini Chocolate chips or After Eight Mint Chocolate Thins too! Or you can shortcut this step with Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, typically used in vegan baking or Nesquik powder (chocolate version)
- Milk Alternatives- I prefer neutral-tasting Oat Milk. It is our favorite milk alternative without nuts. However, you can use your favourite dairy-free milk substitutes, almond milk or coconut milk. If you want your kind of milk, like heavy cream, that is up to you!
- Dalgona Honeycomb Candy- use our fool-proof recipe to make a batch of these perfect treat.
If you have a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, you can shortcut all this with a Chocolate Fudge capsule. This dark chocolate-flavoured coffee is so creamy, smooth and velvety with the right consistency of rich dark chocolate flavour intensity! This barista creation blend makes the perfect mocha coffee with a sweet and velvety blend of Latin American and African Arabicas with a soft biscuit note.

Instructions
First, let's be clear, we are not making a fluffy whipped Dalgona coffee or whipped chocolate that requires egg whites and an electric whisk. You don't need an electric handheld mixer, or hand whisk, said magical dalgona coffee frosting 400 times to form stiff peaks.
First, make a batch ofHoneycomb Toffee Candythat went viral on social media after the Netflix show Squid Games aired. Let it cool down, break it apart and set aside.This Youtube videowill help you get started!
Method 1
Make a shot of espresso in your coffee maker, Frech Press or Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine. Today I used the Chocolate Fudge capsule.
To the bottom of my cup, I added a piece of Nespresso Chocolate Squares to create my mocha Dalgona coffee.
While your coffee is brewing, add your favorite milk to the milk frother. We love our Nespresso Aeroccino! Set the mode to either "hot milk" or "cold milk" depending on if you fancy a hot coffee or an iced milk latte.
Method 2
There are different ways to make this Dalgona chocolate milk. It can be with something other than a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine.
If you do not have a Chocolate Fudge capsule, you can add unsweetened Cocoa Powder or Nesquik chocolate powder and instant coffee granules into the milk frother with the oat milk. The milk frother will combine, emulsify and cream up the ingredients together!
The Nesquik strawberry milk powder is a childhood favourite of mine!
Assembly
Add a few ice cubes to your cup if you make an iced Dalgona chocolate milk base.
Add as much airy honeycomb toffee on top of this non-traditional dalgona coffee. Remember, it can get quite sweet if you are used to drinking your coffee without sugar! Add a few dalgona candies at a time.
